As a volunteer, what can I expect?
Set up a volunteer profile. You may share as little or much about yourself in the fields provided. Once your volunteer profile is created, browse the website and express interest in opportunities that you wish to seek further information. The organizations will contact you in a timely manner.
An interview either in person or by phone will occur when you express interest in a volunteer opportunity to assure a successful match between you, the organization, and the job. However, for some short-term or one-time positions the interview process may be waived or modified.
An orientation is provided that acquaints you with the organization’s policies and procedures. Also included are the expectations you should have for the organization, expectations the organization has of you, and general information about volunteer opportunities.Training will occur at the organization or program in which you volunteer. They will also provide department orientation, workplace safety requirements, department procedures, and supervision to develop necessary job skills as necessary.
Recognition is important. As a volunteer with the Mid Willamette Valley Volunteer and Mentor Center you will be thanked for your contribution.
Evaluation and feedback of the work that you have accomplished should be provided by your organization’s supervisor. As a valued volunteer, you are invited to offer ideas and suggestions that help keep the programs and services in touch with the needs of the people our partner organizations serve.
