History of the Volunteer and Mentor Center
With input from numerous community stakeholders, the Marion County Children and Families Commission developed a strategic plan to address critical community needs. One component strongly supported by local non-profit agencies was the development of a virtual volunteer center under the 501c3 umbrella of the United Way of the Mid-Willamette Valley.
With the support of the Volunteer Center Network of Oregon, the Volunteer and Mentor Center became a member of the Points of Light Foundation, a national organization that supports Volunteer Centers through its Volunteer Center National Network in late 2006. Now, this website is finally a reality!
The Volunteer and Mentor Center refers volunteers to agencies that fit the volunteer’s skills, schedules and desires. The agencies benefit by streamlining the process of volunteer recruitment, record keeping and recognition.
It is the vision of the Volunteer and Mentor Center that “Everyone Volunteers in the Mid-Willamette Valley” and will GIVE BACK TODAY!
